Lye

Let's clear up a misconception about "lye soap".

You can't make soap without lye.

All "true" soap is made with either Sodium Hydroxide (bar soap) or Potassium Hydroxide (liquid soap), also known as "lye" and "potash lye".

When mixed with water and oils, lye is neutralized through chemical process called saponification, converting the fat molecules into soap and glycerin.

There is no lye left in the finished and cured bars.

Oils

We formulate our soaps with finest vegetable oils good enough to eat. By blending various oil, we craft a perfect bar: moisturizing, luxuriously lathering and long lasting.

Almond Oil, Sweet (Prunus dulcis)

Cold pressed from the nuts of the almond tree, sweet almond oil will pamper your skin with nutrients. It is neutral oil easily absorbed into skin where it nourishes and moisturizes. Widely used in aromatherapy, cosmetics and massage products for its emollient, soothing and healing qualities.

Avocado Oil (Persea americana)

Rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, D, E) and easily absorbed moisturizer for all skin types. Softens and increases elasticity without leaving a greasy after feel.

Camellia Seed Oil (Camellia oleifera)

Contains antioxidants which help revitalize and rejuvenate hair and skin. Has a rich texture, leaves skin silky smooth without greasy feeling. Offers protection from free radicals damage and refines mature skin.

Castor Bean Oil (Ricinus communis)

Pure, natural healing oil with excellent emollient properties. Deeply penetrates the skin making it soft and pliable. It acts as a humectant (helps to retain moisture) and creates nice, creamy bubbles in a bar of soap.

Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao)

Cocoa butter is the vegetable fat extracted from the cacao bean rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E. Adds luxurious creamy feel and carries pleasant chocolate aroma. Has softening and soothing properties.

Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera)

Light textured, odorless oil that is known for its moisturizing and lathering qualities. Makes rich, luscious bubbles and will lather even in cold seawater.

Hemp Oil (Cannabis sativa)

This oil has a high amount of essential fatty acids which contributes to the oil's anti-inflammatory properties. Very soothing, nourishing, restorative.

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis)

Cold pressed from the seeds of a desert shrub, jojoba is actually not oil but a liquid wax. Won't clog pores. Has excellent anti-inflammatory properties, with a structure very similar to human skin sebum. It nourishes, rejuvenates and repairs damaged skin.

Olive Oil (Olea europaea)

Great healing and soothing oil, lets the skin breathe and maintain its natural moisture levels while protecting it. Rich in oleic acid also contains minerals, vitamins and proteins. Hypoallergenic.

Palm Oil (Elaeis guineensis)

Extracted from from the fruit pulp of an oil palm tree. Ads richness (silky feel) and mildness to soap. Helps to harden the bar.

Rice Bran Oil (Oryza sativa)

An uncommon nourishing and wholesome oil abundant in Vitamin E. Has soothing, skin softening and emollient properties, which make it great for dry/flaky, sensitive, mature and/or delicate skin where additional moisture is needed. Hypoallergenic.

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii)

Extracted from the fruit of an African shrub in the Sapotaceae family. The unique fatty acid profile of shea butter, together with the high level of non saponifiables, make it a highly effective emollient. Contributes to skin elasticity.

Essential Oils

The fragrances used in our soaps are essential oils derived only by steam distillation or cold-expressed from plant material. We avoid certain essential oils that come from endangered species such as rosewood or sandalwood.

In addition to creating pleasant scents in our soaps, essential oils contain naturally occurring therapeutic compounds which your skin will love.

Textures and Colorants

We add oatmeal to many bars because it is unsurpassed for soothing and exfoliating your skin. Ground coffee beans provide gentle scrub and its rich oils soften the skin. Kelp is rich in nutrients and known to heal, hydrate and detoxify skin.

We use no oxides, ultramarines, synthetic colorants or dyes, choosing instead clays, plants' blossoms, leaves and roots.
